Toy Story 3

Fan-flippin'-tastic.

Who else saw it today? I'm dying to have someone to chat with about its fabulousness without spoiling it for everyone who hasn't seen it. I was even accosting people in the parking lot afterwards to ask if they'd just come out of Toy Story 3, too (they hadn't... they saw Marmaduke... WTH?) so I could have someone to gush with.

Suffice it to say that I laughed and cried (QUIT JUDGING ME) and all five of us who went together (ages 3 to 63) loved it.

  1. I'll gush with you, Jenna. I thought it was fantastic. I might still give the edge to Toy Story 2 for best in the series, but it was a terrific way to end things, no doubt. I thought there were several really great "wow" moments, like the resolution at the dump, which I should have seen coming but still hit me by surprise, and which was so powerful coming as it did after they were all holding hands.

At the end, my wife and girls were all crying. Me, well... I had dust in my eyes. :o)

  2. I couldn't stop bursting into loud, stupid bouts of laughter while Mr. Potato Head's parts were on the tortilla. And Spanish Buzz was awesome. And... so many things. I've been relieved to see how many people admitted they cried at the end. I really thought I was the sappiest person on the planet.

    Hey, how's life?

  3. Jenna,
I thought it was brilliant. Every possible future for old toys was explored.

The homage to "Cool Hand Luke" made me laugh out loud. I was surprised that I was the only one in the theater who seemed to recognize the origin of "a night in The Box."

Then the ending when Andy played one last time with his toys just made me cry. It was beautiful, as was his tribute to Woody.

    Perfect.

I think it deserves the Oscar for Best Picture of the Year, and not just for animated films.

BTW, I saw some speculation that Bonnie might be Boo from Monsters, inc.

  4. Linda, that would be so neat! I hadn't made that connection.
